There are only 10 types of people in the world:
those who understand binary, and those who don't.
Laurens Huizer

Hi there, my name is Laurens Huizer.

I'm 41 years old, married to a beautiful wife and proud father of three children, two girls and one boy.

In my spare time I love to cook and try new receipts, or think up new ones. I'm also busy playing around with my Arduino, some game development in Unity and I'm rather intrigued by 'the house of the future'... I love to make my house smarter - or at least think about ways to do this :).

Oric

Since a very young age I've been interested in software development.

When I was seven years old my dad bought an Oric 1. This is a keyboard-like computer that is directly connected to a television. All programs were stored on audio cassettes, and every once in a while a radio station would send out minutes of beeps and share a program this way.

I can still feel the anticipation recording from the radio, hoping to not get any interference because that would ruin the whole effort.

C#

It all begun in Basic, which was the programming language for the Oric, but after that I went ahead with Turbo Pascal for a couple of years, up until my studies.

During my studies I worked with many different languages; C, C++, Java, Apptivity and during my internship I worked with Visual Basic 6.0.

Then I started building websites in clasic ASP. On my first job I worked with a JavaScript based language which ran server-side. Then I've developed for one year in COBOL, but finally found what I was looking for in C#, in which I am developing now for 15 years.
